The Art of Simplicity: How Ollieta Came to Life

It has been a while since my last post. Life has a way of slipping by, doesn’t it? Sometimes it feels like all the balls are in the air, and we’re darting in every direction to keep them from falling.

Lately, my life has been filled with the busy rhythms of raising growing children, managing the demands of work, and keeping up with the care of a home—all while trying to carve out time for creative pursuits that replenish the soul.

But sometimes, it’s impossible to juggle everything at once. Something has to be set down, even if just for a while. For me, that was writing here. When time feels scarce, it’s hard to gather your thoughts and put them into words.

That doesn’t mean creativity has been absent—it’s been quietly simmering in the background. I’ve been working on something that has lived in my thoughts for a long time. A creative project I’m finally ready to share with you.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to simplicity—a quieter, slower way of moving through the world. Perhaps it was my way of coping when life felt too loud. When I lost my mother and became a mother, this longing for simplicity deepened. It led me to pare back the excess and focus on what truly mattered.

I noticed a shift in my personal style. I started choosing pieces that were higher in quality and timeless in design. At home, I embraced a more thoughtful approach, allowing space for existing objects to breathe. I began saying no to doing more, realising that constant busyness is not all it’s made out to be.

For years, I struggled with how to share this knowledge with others. How could I convey my love for simplicity, elegance, and minimalism in a way that brought joy not just to me, but to others? Slowly, the pieces began to fall into place. My passion for beauty and aesthetics, coupled with my appreciation for slow living, gently guided me toward creating a brand that reflects this way of being.

And so began the dream that would become a reality: Ollieta—a line of silk scarves.

As I embraced minimalism, I began to understand that it’s not just about decluttering or owning less. It’s about intentionality—choosing pieces, moments, and pursuits that bring joy and purpose. Slow living became the rhythm of this philosophy. It taught me to honour the time it takes to create something meaningful, to celebrate the details, and to let go of the pressure to always be productive.

Developing Ollieta felt like a natural extension of this way of life. To me, scarves are more than accessories—they are versatile, timeless, and deeply personal. A single scarf can elevate a wardrobe, reflect individual style, and become a treasured piece in someone’s collection. Designing them became my way of capturing the quiet luxury and beauty I’ve come to love.

Creating Ollieta has been as much about the process as the product. Each step has been a lesson in patience, creativity, and trust in my vision.

The journey hasn’t been without its challenges. There were many moments of doubt—wondering if my vision was clear enough or if I could bring it to life. Even now upon launching, I have the inner voice questioning its success.

These doubts, and the lessons they’ve brought, are stories I’d love to share in future posts.

But every step, from designing the scarves to selecting the perfect silk and collaborating with artisans in Como, Italy, has reminded me why I started. It’s not about perfection—it’s about creating with heart and intention.

In many ways, Ollieta is a reflection of my own journey. It’s about embracing the process, trusting the timing, and celebrating the beauty of simplicity. As I share Ollieta with the world, I hope it brings moments of beauty into others’ lives and inspires an appreciation for objects created slowly, with care and intention.
