TA Pies

I’ve heard a few people (mostly Aussie expats) talking of an “Aussie pie shop” in Montréal called Tourtière Australienne or ta for short that sell pies, sausage rolls, pavlova and other Australian favourites. I can’t believe it has taken me 6 months to go there, especially since it is only a 5 minute walk from where we live. But I will now be a regular, especially on those afternoons when I’m really missing home.
The tiny little shop located on avenue du Parc is owned and operated by a husband and wife team. The wife Melanie is Quebecoise and her husband a New Zealand born chef named Don. Reid and I went for lunch on Friday and ordered one of their pies and my eyes lit up when Melanie asked if we would like a lemon-lime bitters to go with it. I have searched every menu since arriving to Montréal for a refreshing lemon-lime bitters and I’m so happy I now know where to go. Not only that but they sell my favourite chocolate bar ‘Cherry Ripe’ as well as things like Tim-Tams and other Aussie favourites. If you’re in Montréal give them a try. One of their pies topped with a dollop of tomato sauce – nom nom nom.

Those pies look amazing!
I am so jealous!!! I’ve been searching here for LLB but alas, I get looked at like a weirdo every time I try asking for it. I did find bitters though so I can make my own but nothing like a tall glass served in a sweet cafe like that. Oh and cherry ripe!! Sounds like the perfect slice of home xx
This makes me laugh – looks delicious! X
